Shivanasamudra is easy to reach from Mysore by car. The shortest route is via Mysore- Kollegal road, which is approximately 72 km. It will take almost 1.5-2 hours to cover the distance. Another alternative road you can take to reach Shivanasamudra is through the Jattipalla- Kanakapura Route. The Narasipura – Srirangapatna Road, which is around 95 km distance, is the longest route to reach Shivanasamudra from Mysore. 

All the routes are smooth and well-maintained. You can easily travel from Mysore without facing any bumps on the way. However, if you’re visiting Shivanasamudra during weekends or holidays, expect heavy traffic on the road.

Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple

The Sri Ranganathaswamy Temple carries a rich heritage of Hinduism. The famous temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu, also known as God Ranganatha. The temple in Shivanasamudram is one among the three Ranganathaswami temples located at every point where Kaveri splits. 

The deity of the Ranganathaswamy temple in Shivanasamudram represents Lord Vishnu’s youthful form. This is why it is also referred to as Mohana Ranga or Madhya Ranga. This temple was built in the Chola period. It represents the Dravidian style of architecture. 

The Shivanasamudra is relatively a small city, so the best way to enjoy its scenic beauty is by walking. Here you can visit the viewpoints of Bharachukki and Gaganchukki waterfalls. Roam around the luxuriant green forests surrounding the falls. Also, the dense forests are ideal for observing birds and various flora and fauna in their natural habitat.
